Description
The VIII Transanal Approach Course: Mesorectal and Tumor Excision (TaTME/TAMIS), organized by the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Center Foundation (CCMIJU), is aimed at colorectal surgeons, general surgeons, and minimally invasive surgery specialists seeking to deepen their knowledge of the most advanced techniques for rectal cancer treatment via transanal approach.
Directed by Dr. Francisco Alba Mesa (Hospiten Roca, General and Digestive Surgery Service, Fernando Pessoa University, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) and Dr. Francisco Miguel Sánchez Margallo (Scientific Director of CCMIJU), the program combines high-level theoretical and practical training focused on TAMIS (Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery) and TaTME (Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision) techniques.
The theoretical sessions, taught by Dr. Carlos Fernández Quesada, Dr. Francisco Alba Mesa, and Dr. Rocío Ferrer Sotelo, cover the indications, technical standards, and oncological considerations of both techniques. In the practical component, participants perform dissection and suturing exercises on organic tissues, as well as rectal resections through a combined approach (abdominal and transanal) in experimental models, complemented by a demonstration of robotic surgery applied to the transanal approach.
This is a highly practical and technical training program, providing surgeons with a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the most advanced transanal procedures, with the goal of optimizing surgical precision and outcomes in rectal cancer treatment.
