Description

The 1st Peripheral Nerve Microsurgery Course, organized by the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre (CCMIJU), is conceived as an advanced and highly specialized training program aimed at surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals interested in deepening their knowledge of microsurgical techniques applied to the peripheral nerve. The course offers a comprehensive approach covering everything from the fundamentals of microsurgery to the performance of complex nerve repair procedures, combining balanced theoretical training with an extensive practical program developed in a highly specialized learning environment.

The scientific direction of the course is led by Francisco Miguel Sánchez Margallo, Scientific Director of CCMIJU, and Manuel Llusà Pérez, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona. The course also features the participation of a reference teaching faculty in the field of peripheral nerve surgery, composed of specialists with extensive clinical and teaching experience from renowned hospital centers. The presence of external faculty provides a multidisciplinary and up-to-date perspective based on real clinical practice and the application of the most advanced nerve reconstruction techniques.

Over the three-day program, participants undergo progressive training in microsurgery, starting with microsurgical suturing practices and advancing to specific techniques such as epineural, perineural, and polyfascicular neurorrhaphy, the use of synthetic conduits, autologous nerve grafting, as well as nerve transposition procedures and neurotizations. The practical sessions are carried out on experimental and ex vivo models, allowing for safe and controlled learning that facilitates the acquisition of technical skill, precision, and confidence in peripheral nerve handling.

This course represents a unique training opportunity to acquire and consolidate advanced microsurgical competencies, promoting the improvement of clinical practice and the exchange of knowledge with leading experts in microsurgery, within a center of excellence such as CCMIJU. The course concludes with the awarding of certificates of attendance to all participants.
