Integrated infrastructure for the production and characterization of nanomaterials, biomaterials, and systems in biomedicine (NANBIOSIS)
Las Infraestructuras Científicas y Técnicas Singulares (ICTS), son instalaciones únicas y excepcionales en su género. En ellas se desarrollan investigaciones de vanguardia y de máxima calidad, y actúan como centros de transmisión, intercambio y preservación del conocimiento, la transferencia de tecnología y el fomento de la innovación.
ICTS have three fundamental characteristics: they are publicly owned infrastructures, they are unique, and they are open to competitive access.
The NANBIOSIS ICTS is organized into five platforms: (1) biomolecule production; (2) biomaterial and nanomaterial production; (3) preclinical validation: characterization of tissues, biomaterials, and surfaces; (4) preclinical validation: bioimaging; and (5) high-performance computing. These platforms integrate 26 complementary and coordinated units located at different centers in Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, Galicia, Extremadura, Madrid, and the Basque Country.
Through a one-stop-shop system, NANBIOSIS provides integrated, tailor-made solutions to address the challenges faced by researchers in nanomedicine, medical diagnostics, and tissue engineering and regenerative medicine devices. These services include the design and production of bio-/nanomaterials and their nanoconjugates, as well as the physicochemical, functional, toxicological, and biological characterization of these materials, tissues, and medical devices, up to in vivo preclinical validation. NANBIOSIS offers solutions across multiple application fields, and its configuration enables state-of-the-art multidisciplinary studies.
