Laparoscopic Colon Surgery Course

An intensive, hands-on course in laparoscopic colon surgery, focused on sigmoid and ileocecal resection, stapled suturing, and hand-sewn anastomosis using an experimental model. It includes key theoretical sessions and a demonstration of robotic surgery applied to colorectal surgery.

The language in which this course will be delivered is Spanish.

Description

The Laparoscopic Colon Surgery Course is designed for surgeons who wish to acquire, consolidate, or refine the skills required for the laparoscopic approach to the colon through an intensive, structured, and highly hands-on program.

Over two full days, the course combines key theoretical sessions with extensive hands-on training using an experimental model, enabling participants to realistically reproduce the main laparoscopic colorectal surgery procedures. The program progressively covers sigmoid resection and ileocecal resection, integrating both stapled suturing techniques and hand-sewn anastomosis, with particular emphasis on the critical technical aspects that determine the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.

The theoretical sessions focus on an applied anatomical review for laparoscopic colon surgery and on the analysis of critical technical steps, including complex maneuvers such as mobilization of the splenic flexure. These concepts are immediately reinforced in the experimental operating room, promoting direct transfer of knowledge into surgical practice.

As a distinguishing feature, the course includes a practical demonstration of robotic surgery, allowing participants to become familiar with the application of this technology in colon surgery and to explore its advantages in terms of ergonomics, precision, and surgical control.

The teaching approach prioritizes active learning, small-group work, and direct supervision, creating an optimal environment for the development of advanced technical skills and the improvement of surgical decision-making in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
