Description
The Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) Course, directed by Dr. Francisco Miguel Sánchez Margallo, Scientific Director of CCMIJU, and Dr. Miguel Fernández Bermejo, from the Digestive Endoscopy Unit of Cáceres University Hospital, offers comprehensive theoretical and practical training focused on the acquisition and refinement of skills in the ERCP technique. Over two intensive days, participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of the upper digestive tract and the biliopancreatic system in different species, guided by Dr. Octavio López Albors, Professor at the University of Murcia, as well as the fundamental principles and materials required for clinical practice, led by Dr. José María Mateos Rodríguez and Dr. Fernández Bermejo himself.
The program combines theoretical sessions with hands-on workshops using physical simulators and animal models, allowing participants to perform procedures such as cannulation and catheterization of the duodenal papilla, sphincterotomy, contrast studies of the biliary tract, and stent placement, following a realistic approach under expert supervision. In addition, the main complications associated with the technique and strategies for their prevention and management are addressed. This course represents a unique opportunity for digestive endoscopy professionals wishing to train in a highly specialized environment with the technological resources of the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre.
