Description
The Basic Laparoscopic Gynecology Course, directed by Dr. Francisco Miguel Sánchez Margallo, Scientific Director of the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, is designed to provide gynecologists with a solid foundation in the technical and practical principles of laparoscopic surgery. This intensive three-day program combines theoretical and practical training with a highly applied approach, allowing participants to acquire essential skills in handling laparoscopic instruments and performing basic surgical techniques under endoscopic vision.
During the theoretical sessions, key aspects will be addressed such as ergonomics in the laparoscopic operating room, the setup and functioning of surgical equipment, and detailed knowledge of the instruments used in minimally invasive gynecological procedures. In addition, applied anatomy will be studied on the experimental model, which is fundamental for understanding spatial orientation and identifying anatomical structures during surgery.
In the practical sessions, participants will progressively develop skills through structured exercises on laparoscopic simulators, including cutting, dissection, and intracorporeal suturing techniques. These practices aim to improve bimanual coordination, movement precision, and efficiency in tissue handling under indirect vision. Subsequently, the acquired knowledge will be applied to the experimental model, where fundamental gynecological laparoscopic procedures will be performed, such as tubal ligation, oophorectomy, myomectomy, vascular dissection, and laparoscopic hysterectomy.
The course offers comprehensive and progressive training, designed for participants to understand the biomechanical principles of laparoscopy, develop basic psychomotor skills, and gain confidence in a minimally invasive surgical environment. Direct supervision by the teaching team, along with the technical guidance of Dr. Sánchez Margallo, ensures a high-level educational experience focused on safety, precision, and reproducibility of surgical techniques.
