Advanced Laparoscopy Course in Urology: Management of Ureteral Pathology

This is an intensive, hands-on training course in laparoscopic techniques applied to pyeloplasty and ureteral reimplantation. Over three days, participants combine theoretical sessions with dissection and suturing exercises on simulators and animal models, also addressing intraoperative complication management. The program includes a robotic surgery demonstration, allowing comparison of both approaches and consolidating the skills necessary for advanced laparoscopic treatment of ureteral pathologies.

Description

The Advanced Laparoscopy Course in Urology: Management of Ureteral Pathology is aimed at urologists with prior laparoscopic surgery experience who wish to refine their skills in the treatment of major ureteral pathologies using minimally invasive techniques. Under the direction of Dr. Álvaro Serrano Pascual (Vithas Arturo Soria Hospital, Madrid) and Dr. Francisco Miguel Sánchez Margallo (Scientific Director, Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Center, Cáceres), the program combines theoretical and practical training in a highly specialized environment.

Over three intensive days, participants become familiar with pyeloplasty and ureteral reimplantation techniques, addressing both their laparoscopic execution and the management of possible intraoperative complications. Practical sessions include dissection and suturing exercises on organic tissues, laparoscopic simulators, and animal models, allowing precise replication of surgical steps and consolidation of the manual skills required.

The course also features a robotic surgery demonstration, providing the opportunity to compare laparoscopic and robotic approaches in ureteral pathology treatment. Theoretical sessions, led by a teaching team including Drs. Álvaro Serrano Pascual, Antonio Servera Ruiz de Velasco, and Alberto Carlos Pérez Lanzac De Lorca, cover technical, anatomical, and complication-management aspects of these procedures. This advanced training is conducted in a practical, high-level technical environment designed to consolidate the surgical autonomy of specialists in minimally invasive urology.
